MARVELLOUS LIGURIAN COAST
Day 1: Arrival in Genoa area
Day 2: Explore with a guide the historical centre of Genoa (UNESCO). A walk through the narrow streets of the city, called "caruggi" fascinating tales reveal the official history with special anecdotes and curiosities, myths and legends, which reveal the charm and beauty of this magnificent city. Free time for lunch. Optional experience of “Pesto demonstration” in the Imperial Palace with tasting about pesto and “focaccia bread” with a glass of local wine.
Day 3: Italian Riviera – explore the beauty of the “Riviera of Flowers” starting from the visit of Sanremo (Casino, Villa Nobel, Orthodox church, palm-line promenades), then we proceed to villages of Bordighera and Dolceacqua – one of the most beautiful hamlets of Italy.
Day 4: Guided tour of Rapallo, one of the pearls of the Gulf of Tigullio. Located in a magnificent position and of very ancient origin.
Next, we’ll visit Santa Margherita Ligure, elegant resort, with brightly colored houses, facades painted with "trompe l'oeil" manner and hotels in Art Nouveau style. Time for lunch.
In the afternoon transfer to San Fruttuoso by boat, a small fishing village that hosts the ancient Abbey and guided tour of this beautiful pearl. Then we continue to iconic Portofino. In a beautiful bay, the ancient "Portus Delphini", was once a quiet fishing village. Its tall and colourful houses overlooked the famous square in a semicircle. In the 50s it became an internationally renowned tourist resort, still retaining all its elegant charm.
Return to Santa Margherita Ligure by boat.
Day 5: Today we explore the dramatic coastal setting of UNESCO-listed Cinque Terre. The deep blue Ligurian Sea provides a
stunning backdrop for the expanse of pastel pinks, yellows and oranges that cling to the rugged seaside cliffs. Starting from La Spezia we board a boat which will take you to the charming villages of Riomaggiore, Manarola, Monterosso.
Day 6: Today we’ll explore the gulf of Poets. A guided tour of the village of Lerici. Then embark for Portovenere (where English poet George Gordon Byron found inspiration and meditation for his literary works), and arrive from the sea to the village is a part of the UNESCO World Heritage. Portovenere houses the church of San Pietro that overlooks the sea, the Castle and the picturesque Byron Cave.
Day 7. Departure.
